About Jane Austen Post
Jane Austen Post is a letter subscription that mails you real letters from the world of Jane Austen’s novels. It is written by a lady and based at janeaustenpost.com.
What we send
Subscribers receive two mailings of letters a month, on the 1st and 15th. Each letter is written in the voice of a character from the novel: Elizabeth Bennet, Jane Bennet, Mr. Darcy, Charlotte Lucas, Mr. Collins, Lady Catherine de Bourgh and others. The letters follow the book’s own calendar, so the story unfolds in your mailbox as if you lived next door to Longbourn. Some deliveries include period postmarks and enclosures, such as an invitation to the Netherfield ball.
The collection
The first series is Pride and Prejudice. It will be followed by series for Austen’s other novels: Sense and Sensibility, Emma, Persuasion, Northanger Abbey and Mansfield Park. Readers vote on which novel comes next.
Prices
- Monthly: $15 a month
- Annual: $99 a year, about $8.25 a month
Both plans include the same letters, starting from the first one. Subscribers outside the United States pay an extra shipping charge at checkout.
Who writes the letters
A Lady is a artist/writing duo and former college roommates Sally and Pamela, whose love for Jane Austen hasn't waned in the two-plus decades since college. Jane Austen Post was born out of a shared love for Austen's timeless works, and we hope you can experience her world the way we have through our letters.
